9/16 SUNDAY SCHOOL LEARNS ‘THE ABC’S OF GOD’

The children and Sunday School teachers had so much fun doing lessons together this summer that we thought we’d blend the classes again for a season of learning “The ABCs of God,” a study on the greatness and worth of God. We’ll use the alphabet as a framework for learning the attributes of God and other terms that describe His character, at an age-appropriate level. Each lesson asks and answers three key questions, “Who is God?” “What is He like?” and “How should I act toward Him?” as it presents a theology of God for children.

All Sunday school kids (grades 1st-5th) will remain in the service for opening songs before heading upstairs for remainder of class to learn and grow together.

We are trying to encourage students to get in the habit of reading from God’s word and treasuring it, so please help your child remember to bring their Bibles to class. They will be rewarded with a party after a certain amount of participation!

At the end of the 10:30 Connect service, 4th and 5th graders will be dismissed as normal. You can come up and get the younger ones at the end of service or we can bring them to the bottom of the stairs for you, whichever is easiest for you.

Here’s a couple things we are all looking forward to the next couple weeks:

SEPTEMBER 16TH KICK-OFF PARTY

We’ll be giving an overview of the curriculum to the kids, celebrating that we get to learn together, and playing games like Bible Bingo, Bible Pictionary, and doing a scavenger hunt.

SEPTEMBER 23RD HAITI MISSIONS SEND-OFF

Our 1st–5th graders will stay in the Connect service downstairs when Creekside will pray over the 6 individuals traveling to Haiti Sept. 26-Oct. 5. We want the kids to be a part of this as they have taken a personal interest in each missionary by making them beautiful cards and helping raise funds for the missions trip.

By the way, a huge thank you to your kids who worked so hard at the lemonade and cookie stand fundraiser Aug. 26, all the awesome helpers, and for the generosity of the whole church!

Any questions, please contact Katie Marquardt or Debbie Short.

9/22 A PATHWAY KNOWN ONLY TO GOD (WOMEN’S CONFERENCE)

CLEO stands for “Creekside Ladies Encouraging Others”. This is a monthly event for the women of Creekside to encourage one another with fellowship and spiritual growth.

Normally we meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Instead, on September 22 we will attend The Notebook Cafe’s 4th Annual Fall Women’s Conference at Timberline Conference Center, 4459 121st Street in Urbandale. This year’s conference is entitled “A Pathway Known Only to God.” Doors open at 8 AM, and the conference begins at 8:30 and ends at 11:30AM. This event is free but seating is limited so you need to register. CLEO has registered for 6 spots so please contact Linda Pieper or Hedy Woolwine If you would like to attend! 4459 121st Street in Urbandale.

“Your road leads through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters – a pathway no one knew was there!” Psalm 77:19

9/22 SHENS’ BREAKFAST AT SAYLORVILLE

The Shens (Creekside’s 60s-80s group) are having breakfast at Saylorville Lake on Saturday morning, September 22 starting at 8:30. Meet at the Lakeview Shelter House—turn east at the Lakeview sign on NW Beaver Drive. They’ll be serving pancakes, maple syrup, eggs, meat and coffee. Sign up to bring a side at Creekside.

We appreciate Officer Anthony Brooks and the Urbandale Police Department for the informative and engaging active shooter response training at Creekside on September 8th.
