Dress A Girl Pancake Breakfast
Dress A Girl is having a fundraising pancake breakfast (including sausage, fruit, juice, milk and coffee) at Creekside on Saturday, November 4th from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Tickets are $6.00 each and includes entry into a door prize drawing for a hand-made quilt. We will have a raffle for other great prizes.
We are also currently taking orders for Butter Braid Bread (Double Chocolate, Apple, Blueberry Cream Cheese, Cherry, Cinnamon, Raspberry, Strawberry Cream Cheese) for $14 each, except the 4 Cheese & Herb for $15. Please see Sandy Elifritz or Myrna Baird to order, and make checks payable to “Dress A Girl At The Reserve”. You can pick up purchases at The Reserve on November 18th.
What is 'Dress A Girl'? It's a campaign under Hope 4 Women International bringing sundresses to little girls in third world countries via missionaries. In addition to providing quality clothing, the dresses are designed with prominent labels to warn would-be predators looking to capture girls for slave labor and prostitution that someone is looking after them. In two years, volunteers at The Reserve (the senior living community next door to Creekside) has made and sent almost 2,000 dresses to various countries in Africa, to Brazil and also Haiti. Some at Creekside have also volunteered with Dress A Girl.
If you'd like to volunteer in this ministry, get in touch with Sandy or Myrna.
Welcome Pastor Steve Smith
In September, Creekside welcomed Steve Smith as our full-time pastor.
Steve has faithfully served 21 years as the Senior Pastor of the Evangelical Free Church in Albert City, Iowa, with his wife Marla and daughter Shera. He and Marla have two other grown children in the Des Moines area.
Steve is a graduate of UNI and Grace Theological Seminary and a loving family man. He'll bring with him a wide range of valuable experience in teaching, leadership, counseling, vision casting, equipping, administrating, and sound Biblical preaching.
Please join us in welcoming Steve and in thanking the Lord for his good provision in filling this position with a faithful and gifted servant of Christ. The ballots we collected from the church from our vote of affirmation several weeks ago were 100% in favor of Steve, so thank you also for your help and support in our search, Creekside!
Any questions, please contact any of your elders or deacons.
CLEO: Creekside Ladies Encouraging
Starting in 2016, there will be a monthly event for the women of Creekside to encourage one another with fellowship and spiritual growth. This will be held at 10 AM on the last Saturday of each month. Each gathering will include a 10-20 minute presentation on the topic and an activity to spur discussion together. Please see the attached PDF for more detailed information and the calendar of upcoming topics.
Ministry Mission Statement: Providing a monthly event for the women of the Creekside Church
community for the purpose of encouraging one another through fellowship and spiritual growth. "No one knows how much you know until they know how much you care." (Anonymous)
Bible Verse: "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV)
Set-Up: We will begin at 10 AM on the last Saturday of each month. We will provide coffee, but if you feel you want to bring some refreshments to share, please feel free but otherwise we want to keep it simple.
Meeting format: Open with prayer; a speaker will briefly (10-20 minutes) speak on the topic for the month; participate in an activity that will spur discussion on the topic; then see where the Lord will lead us!
Volunteers! If you feel the Lord leading you to share something on any topic or if you feel there is an idea burning in your heart that you want to share, please feel free to contact one of us and we will make sure you are heard.
