In 2 Chronicles 14, God’s people faced an overwhelming army that outnumbered them almost 2 to 1. In view of their desperate situation, king Asa modeled reliance upon the Lord worth following: “Lord, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength so help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in You…” (2 Chr. 14:11a). It shouldn’t take the threat of an invading army to convince us of God’s sovereignty and our own frailty that moves us to seek the Lord. Prayer is the privilege of God’s people who are actually desperately dependent upon Him whether we are feeling the press of the struggle or not. It’s important for us to acknowledge our corporate and individual reliance upon God. Join us at Creekside next Sunday night at 6:30 for a time of calling out to Him who alone is powerful to help in the battle between those who are powerful and those who have no strength.
